Kentucky is at ground zero with the highest death rates of cancer in the country. UofL Brown Cancer Center was founded so that the people wouldn’t have to travel to get treatment but instead would have access to the most sophisticated cancer care in the world.

We have proven that we can fight cancer and win. Through clinical research done right here at UofL Health – Brown Cancer Center, we have reduced the three-year melanoma death rate from 95 percent to only 20 percent. This means more people, young and old, can be with their family, pursue their careers and enjoy their lives.

We’re at the forefront of developing and treating immunotherapies which have the ability to eradicate cancer completely from a patient’s body. You can help fund this research.

We were among the first to test immunotherapy with melanoma patients, which has resulted in a more than 10-fold increase in the three-year survival of metastatic melanoma patients. You can help us develop innovative treatments.

We believe the science behind immunotherapy for melanoma can be applied to other more common adult cancers including lung cancer, colon cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer, lymphoma and leukemia. You can help make that happen.

Some patients cannot afford a ride to treatment. You can help patients overcome this barrier by supplying gas vouchers, cab rides and bus tickets through the M. Krista Loyd Resource Center.
